Head for the Hills
The year was 1993. As longtime Florida residents, Hil & Alene decided they wanted to live in the mountains. They packed up their life’s belongings and moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and suddenly discovered that no matter how much they had prepared themselves for it, winter in the Rockies was simply not their cup of tea. And then fate struck when they discovered Franklin.
With its mild four-season climate, beautiful mountain scenery and relaxed pace, Hil & Alene felt like they had found Heaven on Earth. They were welcomed to the community like family members. And in the decade since, they have ingrained themselves in the community they love, continually finding more reasons to love it.
“There’s nowhere like this,” Alene says. “We both love the outdoors and there’s nothing like driving to work every day with a beautiful mountain vista on the horizon instead of a string of skyscrapers and telephone poles.”
Giving a Little Something Back
The passionate feelings Hil & Alene hold for the Franklin area were so strong, they felt compelled to give back to the community.
